Important Technical Notes
The alternator must be properly grounded to the engine block. Painted, coated, or plated brackets and alternator surfaces may prevent grounding. If needed, run a dedicated ground wire from the alternator housing to the block matching the charge wire size.
A fully charged battery should read 12.6V or higher. Weak or defective batteries contribute to premature alternator failure.
Never disconnect the battery with the engine running — voltage spikes can permanently damage the alternator.
Aeroflow alternators spin at approximately 2.5× crankshaft RPM. At 700 RPM idle, the alternator spins around 1,750 RPM.
Maximum safe alternator speed is 15,000 RPM, which generally supports engines up to 6,000 RPM.
Engines operating above 6,000 RPM must verify pulley ratios to keep alternator speed within limits. Supplied pulley diameter is 1.75" (44.45mm).
Internal bearings and components are not designed for extreme RPM, so always calculate your pulley ratio before use.
